Abstract

This paper discusses "jazz" festibal in Indonesia is so massive and sporadic by considering the data and literature from many discipline as well as cultural phenomenon that occured. jazz festivals in indonesia in various forms and purposes seems to have become a trend that enliven and color the cultural events in indonesia. festivalisation "jazz" comes as a cultural phenomeno that shows the relational between jazz music as a global cultural product with local culture in her identity and lifestyle stigma that music "jazz" is a music of bourgeois, making music events by borrowing this term seems to show social class strata. jazz then commodified through festivals with various destinations, especially the development of tourism destinations. jazz music allows everyone to adapt in a subjective way. the music by relying on freedom of expression and improvisation makes this music acceptable to all levels of society. the shift from the stage to the inevitable event, the stages has changed. music no longer only believes in conventionally representative stages, but jazz has been grown in new spaces in society, earthed in villages, or spaces joined in many aims. jazz not only appears on radio or television, but real spaces are ready to meld with shared ideals for real and virtual shuttle mobility. keywords: Jazz, festivals in Indonesia, social class
