Abstract

The characters of children are commonly depicted as cheerful and open, but not all children follow this pattern. Factors such as family environment, early social experiences, and interactions outside the home can influence a child's socialization activities. The author, who has had a reserved personality since childhood, associates this with strict upbringing and limited social interaction outside the home and school. These limitations, along with anxiety in socializing, become a reality over time. Experiences in junior high school, especially during choir competitions, were challenging. The author couldn't control the anxiety felt from rehearsal sessions to the day of the competition, affecting their performance. Excessive anxiety resulted in heightened nervousness, such as the inability to focus, nausea, and trembling hands and lips. Through this experience, the author's self-confidence deteriorated, intensifying social anxiety and causing reluctance to engage in social activities involving many people. Awareness of the socialization issue prompted the author to learn to overcome anxiety, and solitary hobbies, such as drawing, became an effective solution. By visualizing anxiety into art, the author found a creative way to overcome the social challenges they faced. Observations of social anxiety, inspired by personal experiences, became the central idea for creating unique and meaningful graphic art. Through the Final Project Report on Social Anxiety as the Foundation for Creating Print Making, the author aims to share their experience in dealing with excessive social anxiety, manifested in a series of 15 artworks using the relief printing technique.
