Abstract

The main focus of this research is the creative process of creating the Kembang Bulak Dance in Bekasi Regency. The Kembang Bulak Dance is a typical dance of Bekasi Regency which is inspired by the crowds in the field, the tradition of young people gathering shortly after Eid playing drums with joy. This becomes the dance stylist's internal motivation to develop the movement into a dance work. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive analysis method. Creative potential is analyzed using Rhodes' 4P creativity concept cited by Utami Munandar as an approach theory that includes person, press, process, and product. In creating this dance work, the choreographer went through several stages to start the initial step of searching for ideas or ideas. Based on Alma M. Hawkins' understanding that choreography is created through several stages, namely exploration, improvisation, composition, and evaluation. The emphasis on appearance makes the choreographer want to describe these conditions, to manifest into a dance work with various aspects of dance such as movement, makeup and clothing, music, lighting, spatial planning, and property. The results showed that the dance stylist in carrying out the creative process was influenced by internal factors based on his experience in the arts and the desire to create dances with the cheerful nuances of the young people of Bekasi and external factors, namely support from the Bekasi Regency government and the surrounding community which made the dance stylists enthusiastic to create creation. Evaluation as the final stage, is applied at the end of each process carried out as a benchmark for the success of the work, by carrying out this stage of the process finally producing a Kembang Bulak dance work.
