Abstract
Repeated review on Laras and Surupan theories by RMA. Koesoemadinata conducted by Deni Hermawan, Heri Herdini, et al. is a positive stepfor the progress of arts, as well as to respond severe criticisms stated byforeign etnomusicologists toward Sundanese Karawitan theories especially on conformity between karawitan theory andfield practice. Results of the repeated review, however, need to be re-reviewed since the interval data (salendro interval with the shortest distance is 200 cent, degung and madenda intervals with the shortest distance is 100 cent) are not the wealth and superiority of Sundanese pitch to be an identity among all existing pitches in the world. Infact, the intervals of the result of this repeated review (especially degung and madenda pitches) take more side with western notationJsolmisation. This can beproved with the exactly same interval size of the two pitches with the interval size of western notation (cheve)lsolmisation. This, of course, causes a question to the writer, Why could this happens?
