Abstract
Musisi dan guru sering memperdebatkan manfaat relatif dari pembelajaran berbasis aural versus pembelajaran berbasis notasi.Poin dasar foldes dibuat sekitar empat dekade sebelum "The sounding symbol" oleh Goerge Odam mempulerkan kembali frasa "sound before symbol" yang menekankan bahwa musik pada dasarnya adalah bahasa aural dan bahwa bermain dan membaca harus dibangun atas pondasi itu.
