Abstract

Sanggar "Dewi Sri", a wooden batik handicraft studio made by Musidi in 1995 in the Krebet Hamlet. Krebet Hamlet is a wooden batik craft center in Yogyakarta. This studio produces several souvenirs, such as the loro blonyo statue, dakon, animal decoration, and so on. The flagship handicraft product of this studio is the wooden batik mask, which has special characteristics in terms of colors and traditional batik motifs such as kawung, grompol, truntum and parang. This batik motif was applied to the surface of the mask as a finishing, this became a combination of superb mask and supreme batik. . The purpose of this study describes the history of the studio, production techniques, characteristics, and the existence of the wooden batik mask of the Sanggar "Dewi Sri". This study examines the existence of Sanggar "Dewi Sri" wooden batik masks, using a qualitative description method as a presentation of research results. This study is based on the viewpoint of the proposed study of aesthetics and economic management analysis. Data analysis used the study of masks, batik motifs, aesthetics with Felmand theory, craft arts & MSMEs (UMKM), and marketing management. Data collection is done by using interviews, observation, collection, and literature study. Sanggar "Dewi Sri" in protecting the existence of its wooden batik products, as well as the characteristics of this studio. Not only appreciating the economic value, the aesthetic aspect also considers the "Dewi Sri" Studio in making wooden batik masks. Producing its products can survive in the craft market at home and abroad.
