Abstract

“Montana” merupakan sebuah komposisi musik program naratif. Komposisi musik “Montana” merupakan ide ekstramusikal dari cerita pendek karya F. Scott Fitzgerald yang berjudul “The Diamond as Big as The Ritz”. Komposisi musik ini dihadirkan dalam lima bagian yang menceritakan cerita pendek “The Diamond as Big as The Ritz” dengan bentuk Brass Band seksi tiup (flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone) serta seksi combo (piano, gitar, bass, drum). Metode penciptaan yang diterapkan dalam proses penciptaan komposisi musik “Montana” meliputi perumusan ide, penentuan judul, observasi, eksplorasi, penentuan instrumentasi, penulisan notasi serta post production. Komposisi musik “Montana” menggunakan konsep musik program naratif dan menggunakan teknik leitmotif sebagai sarana penulis mendeskripsikan tokoh, latar serta alur cerita dalam upaya.
