Abstract

The final project of a creation entitled " Motif Bunga Matahari Pada Batik Kain Panjang " is a creation that takes the idea of the sunflower shape as the main motif into a long cloth batik work. The writer took sunflowers as the idea of a motif because of the unique shape of the flower, and wanted to develop an unprecedented motif to be used as a motif on long cloth batik. The process of creation work. The method of creating long cloth batik goes through three main stages, namely exploration (searching for sources of ideas, concepts, and the foundation of creation), design (design work design) and embodiment (creation of works). The visualization of this work begins with making motifs, alternative patterns, selected patterns, designs, preparation of materials and tools, patterns, mending nglowong, isen-isen and nembok, dyeing colors, and the finishing process. The resulting works consist of 5 long fabrics with a size of 250 cm x 105 cm, namely: 1). Kain Panjang Lembayung Kembang Wutah, means that a life has many directions and goals to continue to develop. 2). Kain Panjang Kembang Matahari Wutah, means that even though human life is without direction, it is still able to develop and still have hope like a blooming flower. 3). Kain Panjang Sigaring Matahari, meaning that humans have good and bad attitudes. 4). Kain Panjang Kembang Ombak Matahari, back to the truth that God guides. 5). Kain Panjang Liris Srengenge, contains the meaning of a desire to have a full affection, for example towards a lover. Keywords: Long cloth, Batik, sunflower
