Abstract

Serat Suluk Ling-Lung is a Serat written by Sunan Kalijaga before he died. Serat contains the story of Sunan Kalijaga's spiritual journey. A son of the Duke of Tuban who chose to become a robber to help his people who were forced to pay tribute to the Majapahit kingdom. One day he was restless about his actions all this time, until finally met Sunan Bonang who became Sunan Kalijaga’s spiritual teacher. Sunan Kalijaga's meeting with Sunan Bonang was a moment that made Sunan Kalijaga change the outlook on life in this world, as well as become a milestone in the process of his quality. The reference is the reason the author took Serat Suluk Ling-Lung as a source of inspiration for the creation of the Final Task because the author wanted to know the science of Islamic perfection through Sunan Kalijaga as a Guardian of Allah. The selection of batik writing long cloth as a medium of creation is one of the author's efforts to keep preserving Indonesian culture so as not to become extinct. The creation of this Final Task uses an aesthetic approach and a semiotic approach. The data collection methods used are library studies, online media, and interviews. The method of creation of the work refers to practice-based research starting from the interest of the author with the spiritual story of Sunan Kalijaga so that it becomes a creation idea that produces research question, approach method, data collection, data analysis, sketch design then made a selected design, and manifested on long cloth writing batik. The technique used is batik tulis lorodan with synthetic color dyeing. The final result of the creation of this work is in the form of three long cloths with the motif of visualizing the spiritual story of Sunan Kalijaga contained in Serat Suluk Ling-Lung. In each work has a story and connects with each other's work. This work has a uniqueness and new motif with a touch of batik writing coastal style.
