Abstract

Gorga batik is a typical batik of the pride of the Batak tribe which is well known both domestically and abroad. Gorga in the tradition of the Batak tribe is the art of carving or carving which is applied to the traditional Batak Toba house (Rumah Bolon) and various art tools that will be applied using the written batik technique. There are three dominant colors in Gorga called Sitiga Bolit, namely white, red, and black. The three meanings of the Gorga color symbol are believed to be found in the figure of a woman named Boru ni raja (the king's daughter) or a Batak woman who has characteristics like a king's daughter. This work was created to describe the role, tenacity, independence and toughness of Batak women. The approach method used is aesthetics and ergonomics, while the method of creating works used is a three-step six-step method, namely: the first stage of exploration, the second stage of design, the third stage of realization, these three stages are elaborated into the following six steps: soul wandering steps , foundation excavation theory, design, design realization, embodiment, and evaluation. The final result of the creation of this textile work is a cocktail dress decorated with Gorga motifs using the written batik technique. This work depicts a female figure who has characteristics such as the meaning of three colors in the Gorga motif. The creation of this work is expected to make a positive contribution to the development of creativity in works, especially textile works.
