Abstract

The existence of ornaments has existed since the royal era. the existence of ornaments, one of which is evidenced by the decoration of the temple building with certain forms of ornaments. One of the prominent ornaments exhibited since ancient times is the lotus ornament. The lotus ornaments that are usually exhibited in temples are also on display at the Saka Tunggal Baitussalam Mosque. This research will find out how the appearance of the Majapahit ornaments exhibited at the mosque, find out whether there are differences between the lotus ornaments borrowed from the Majapahit period and also find out the aesthetic value of the ornaments at the Saka Baitussalam Tunggal Mosque. This study uses qualitative research and data is collected in the form of descriptive analysis. The population as well as the sample in this study is the Saka Tunggal Baitussalam Mosque. This study uses historical and aesthetic approaches. The ornaments on the pillars of the Saka Tunggal Baitussalam Mosque are known to have the same pattern as the lotus ornament patterns on Hindu-Buddhist heritage temples, there are several elements of the ornament that have been changed and added, namely at the base of the lotus that grows, the tip of the lotus is in the shape of a bud and also has wings added with lotus ornament. The wings on the pillars have seven fins which are the specialty of Muslims in releasing worldly things during worship so that they pass through the seven layers of heaven towards Allah. At the Saka Tunggal Baitussalam Mosque, it can be said that the ornament fulfills the element of beauty, although not completely. The aesthetic values contained in the three ornaments on the pillars of the mosque include the form of ornaments in the form of stylization of flora and fauna, color and presentation.
