Abstract
Peacock Bass fish is a type of predatory fish that is quite popular because it has a very fast growth rate. Peacock bass originates from the Amazon river in North America. This predatory fish is often used for "sport fishing" or recreational fishing activities taking place in the Amazon river area. This freshwater ornamental fish is one of the largest fish in the cichildae family. The author is interested in using the Peacock Bass fish as a source of ideas because of its beauty, unique shape and attractive color. Apart from that, the author's aim is also to introduce to the public through this decorative batik style artwork that the Peacock Bass fish is a predatory fish that can disturb the habitat of local fish. The creation of this work uses the Djelantik aesthetic approach to achieve harmonious beauty in form, weight and presentation. The Three Stage Six Step Theory developed by SP Gustami was used to create this work. This theory describes three methods of creating craft works of art in six steps. The process of making this work is carried out through exploration, design planning and product creation. The author uses batik techniques to produce a decorative Peacock Bass fish expression in this work. To create more attractive work, the batik techniques used include dabbing (wiping), sprinkling, and dipping. The result is eight Peacock Bass fish panel batik works. The depiction of the Peacock Bass fish in the work is combined with several supporting ornaments such as river rocks, plants and splashing water motifs to make the work look more beautiful and attractive. It is hoped that this work will provide knowledge and a source of inspiration for the general public, educational institutions and arts institutions, especially in the field of textile crafts.
