Abstract

Women with their advancement are unique figure. They always perceive themselves in relation to other people with regard to cultural affairs and social values. Women in general have more sensitive thought, imagination, and feeling than men. Beside that, women playa very important and strategic role in managing their families. In addition, women have biological advantages that men lack; that is, to become pregnant and deliver ba bies. They, however, are also unique and mysterious figures. The writer was interested in exploring the life of women because women are tender and the posture of their body is artistic. These have made the writer to create table lamps which were intended to be functional. Women are analogous to table lamps that illuminate the surroundings with their dim light to provide quietness, tenderness, and romantic atmosphere. In creating the art works, glugu (the trunk of coconut tree) is utilized. Glugu has a very decorative value and specific fiber. When the fmishing process is completed, the fiber looks very apparent and natural. Through innovation, besides providing illumination, table lamps may be also used for room decoration. Table lamps may be put in any room as desi.l:ed, be it in the living room, bedroom, dining room, or anywhere else.
