Abstract
Music presentation in wedding entertainment requires strategies that integrate both musical aspects and service management. This study aims to examine the music presentation strategies employed by Diamusik Entertainment in wedding reception in Yogyakarta from both managerial and musical perspectives. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through observation, interviews with management and musician, and documentation. The findings show that Diamusik Entertainment utilities the structure of wedding reception event (opening, procession, formal session, and entertainment session) as the main framework for its performance. Within this structure, Diamusik Entertainment implements a client-oriented music presentation strategy through adaptive perfomance formats and a high degree of flexibility in performing various musical genres based on clients’ requests. This strategy is supported by selection of pop songs for formal session and Javanese dangdut or ambyar songs for entertainment session to encourage audience and engagement, as well as by subtle improvitational techniques performanced on stage. The ability to adapt to dinamic situations in managing event structure and mastering deverse musical genres constitutes Diamusik Entertainment’s primary strategy and competitive advantage in responding to challenge of Yogyakarta’s wedding entertainment industry.
