Abstract
Bedhaya Ketawang is a ritual and sacred dance of Kraton Kasunanan or Kasunanan Court that has a very important role in the ceremony celebrating the anniversary of the coronation of the King, i.e. HRH Susuhunan Paku Buwono, called the tingalan dalem ceremony. Due to its significance, all aspects concerning this dance have thoroughly been arranged based on the Kraton's norms that are full of spiritual meaning. There are some aspects building up this dance and two of them are the aspect of norms and that of ethics. This article aims to discuss how the dancers comprehend and apply these aspects in preparing themselves to take part in this grand performance.
