If we scrutinize more carefully, the transgender have been legitimized and institutionalized through the arts of Indonesian. But still not all of societies in Indonesian could receive the existence and identity of the transgender. The group identity is very influential to the individual’s identity because the group identity built through individual’s identity. According to Tajfel and Turner, in increasing positive identity, there are three basic strategies that can be done, which were individual mobility, social creativity, and social competitions. Transgender group identity can be seen from the way they are showing their existence them selves. When they are focusing on the activities they like to do, then the community can also look at them even call their identity according to what they are already doing. Starting from the number of Indonesian transgender groups that are still haven’t dare to show their identity, but they have already been assimilating into the public art activities, which is the choral art in particular, the researchers were very interested to examine the transgender choir in the city of Semarang.
