Abstract
The representation of the facial expressions of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) sufferers in the creation of this Final Project will be visualized through a ceramic artwork. The author visualizer the facial expressions of sufferers when the virus attacks their body. The expressions often observed by the author are faces contorted in pain with eyes closed, sufferers often choosing to lie down and even shedding tears. Sufferers also have pale faces, due to lack of vegetable consumption, resulting in weak immune systems. The creation of this Final Project uses the Gustami creation mentod, which cinsists of the exploration stage (searching for sources of ideas, concepts, and creation foundations), design (work design planning), and finnaly the realization stage (making the work). The visualization of the creation process uses an empirical approach method as a direct personal experience and is realized in a work of art, Dharsono’s aesthetics as a reference for the realization of the work. Then, it is made into several designs that are realized with clay media and using casting techniques, pinch, coil, adhesive, and Slip Trailing using a canting tool. The ceramic artwork with the theme of expressions of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) sufferers is presented in the form of self-potraits of suffrers’ expressions combined with stylized CMV virus as symbol. The process of forming the work using casting, pinch, and coil techniques with Slip Trailing and adhesive decoration on the 5th work. The created works are finished with a glaze nuance of black, purple, pink, red, and transparent colors. By creating this work, the author wants to explain about Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and the impact of its causes based on empirical into a ceramic artwork.
